Designer by trade, chef by heart.
Hi, I’m Denise, a first-gen Mexican-American, born and raised in East LA. My city and the people shaped how I see the world, and that lens shows up in everything I make.
I got my degree in graphic design from Loyola Marymount University in 2015. Since then, I’ve built a multidisciplinary career across visual design, product design, illustration, and art direction.
I got my start as a design intern at Hulu, then spent seven years at Snap, where I really found my voice as a designer. Currently, I’m a Senior Product Designer at Yahoo, where I focus on creating thoughtful, accessible, and inclusive user experiences.
Outside of tech, I’m also a trained chef. In 2022, I pursued my passion for cooking by attending the Institute of Culinary Education and becoming a professionally trained chef. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside chefs like Flynn McGarry and continue to explore my culinary path with aspirations of becoming a private chef and eventually opening my own butcher shop.
I’m passionate about lifelong learning, mentorship, and fostering inclusivity in all aspects of my work. I care deeply about craft, storytelling, and building things that feel human. Currently based in Brooklyn.
